The Butter Up Shea and Cocoa Butter Hair Treatment Masque by Urban Culture is a deliciously thick conditioning treatment which leaves hair moisturised and protected from the elements.
Both shea butter and cocoa butter are staple flavours for moisturisers of both the skin and hair variety, so a combination of the two ingredients results in an intense treatment that is perfect for dry hair. The treatment has a lovely smell reflective of its two title ingredients, however a look at the lengthy ingredients list reveals that the product is actually perfumed. While the product appears aerated on the surface, it is actually quite dense, with 250 grams packed into the tub.
The treatment is supposed to be used directly after shampooing, though I used it after rinsing out my regular conditioner. However after using the treatment, I can say that it is intense enough that there is no point applying conditioner beforehand. The treatment is supposed to be left to soak for five to fifteen minutes, but no ill effects occurred from leaving it in for hours.
The end result was pleasing; my hair was left feeling soft and voluminous for days. This product is advertised as protecting the hair, though how effective this is cannot be discerned by the casual user.
The Urban Culture Butter Up Masque in Shea and Cocoa Butter is available online from Glamaco for $26.95.
