Like all Mirenesse products, the Eclipse Age Defence Tinted Daily Face Balm has a mouthful of a name to describe a simple product. It can be used alone for very light coverage, or in tandem with other products.
The Face Balm has the texture of a primer, and leaves the skin feeling silky. Apply it underneath foundation or powder for a moisturising base with added sun protection; or wear it alone on a no-make-up day for the SPF factor and to give your skin a small touch of colour.
The tint is only available in one light shade, so it is not suitable for dark skin. While the colour appears to be suited for ivory skin in the picture on the Mirenesse website, it is actually slightly darker in real life. As it does not impart much colour, it is suitable for both light and medium toned skin.
This product provides mild sun protection, with inbuilt SPF15. This is certainly not sufficient for a day in the sun, but it is useful for days when you do not plan on being outside for too long.
I will admit the packaging on the Face Balm is not great. It comes in a compact case with a mirror and an applicator sponge. The sponge does not sit in the product; it fits into a plastic cover that separates the two. This would be a conveniently portable packaging for your handbag, if only the case would stay closed. It clicks shut with a promising sound, but it does not take more than a jiggle to open again. The compact turning upside down in your handbag would be disastrous.
The Eclipse Age Defence Daily Face Balm is available from the Mirenesse website for $AUD69.50 at full price. VIP subscribers can get the product for $41.70.
It is also available in a clear, non tinted variety.
